Particularly in the United States, many parents view social networking websites with suspicion while having limited understanding of what these sites really are or how they work. Used responsibly, social networking sites do not pose a danger or threat to anyone. Facebook, MySpace, and other sites have numerous benefits for their users in terms of interacting and talking with other people, but also provide comprehensive privacy and safety features. Facebook, for example, does not allow a person to view others' profiles unless they are friends, which requires both people to confirm their relationship. It is even possible to limit what parts of a personal profile are visible to friends, which friends it is visible to, or (for the especially paranoid) to make the profile completely invisible to everyone

The social networking websites are trying to make online communities by persons who have common hobbies and interests. These websites based on internet websites and they have multiple meet up ways. All users can publish their own information with other online communities, e.g. common interest subjects, their job, their favourite persons etc. via their own profile and/or by sending private messages, photos, videos etc.

The spread of social networking websites becomes with speed of epidemic. In this research paper, I am particularly interested in Facebook because Facebook is social networking websites that is currently most well-known around the world and it is heavily used on college campuses. People on Facebook are everywhere including in the class lectures, Starbucks, Mc Donald, and libraries. Before January, 2009, MySpace was the popular online social networking. But, to a blog post by Aaron, Prebluda in the Compete research, Facebook's monthly visitors were more than MySpace's monthly visitors in January, 2009, Facebook number of visitors was 1.2 billion people visit during that month. And MySpace had slipped down to second rank on January, 2009 (Prebluda, 1). From this perspective, you can see how much people are involved in Facebook every day.
